Better late than never…

First things first, I am sorry for not posting sooner - the past few weeks have been hectic, infact I am writing this from an airport coffee shop before jetting off to an event this weekend! Since my last post I have been to 2 RTTs and painted 2 armies, so there is plenty to catch up on.

So lets start with the events, I took the angry space dwarfs back out for the Carnage midweek RTT in Sheffield, this was to see how they got on with the new dataslate changes - my list was slightly effected by the sagitaur increases however I ran 2 so it could have been worse. Votann are absolutely still completely viable with 25 hearthguard, 5 beserks, 1 land fortress, 9 bikes, and 2 sagitaurs.

This event saw me pair into Deathguard round 1, for a very good game with my masses of 1 damage and the ignore modifiers now impacting my melee weapons I was able to deal with Mortarion and lock down the game. Votann Win 98-64

Round 2 had me against Guard and one of the experienced Carnage team, this game was signifcantly tougher being Purge the Foe, and going first. This was a hard fought battle but in the end I was able to deny enough scoring to take the match. Votann win 78-74

The final game was here - into Mark and his chaos knights. The last time Mark and I faced off was also a podium match at the outpost. A very good player, mark was able to capitalise on my one major mistake in the game and lock me out on a narrow margin. Knights win 82-79

In the end I finished 5th and Mark finished 2nd. Another good event from the boys at Carnage and great to brush the dust off the squats.

RTT 2

The next event I had was this weekend just gone - run by Hulls Angels, in association with DeadRedGaming this event was a bit of fun for me to test out an ”interesting” grey knights list. Double Storm Raven and 4 Dreadknights. I wrote this list to do 2 things: kill custodes and have a laugh doing it.

Muggins forgot to take an actual photo of the list all pretty like, but here it is

The first round pairing was into guard, and thanks to Search & Destroy, I was able to pin him in for most the entire game allowing me to score out to a strong start. Grey Knights win 95-58.

Round 2 was the dream, I paired into my teammate Riley, and his Custodes. We had a fun few rounds of ”invun or death” on his 3W bodies that allowed me to eventually leverage my speed to keep ahead on the points outscoring the bottom of turn priority targets scoring. GK win 89-85.

The final round parings were released, and to my horror I got perhaps my worst match up of the remaining undefeateds - Nurgle daemons. This game was pretyy much a lock out, as he went first he was able to dominate the board control early on and I really struggled to kill him quickly enough to catch up. Daemons win 89-68.

Overall I took another respectable finish of 6th, which for a bit of a fun list I am more than happy with.
